July 2026 Packaging Machinery Highlights: M&A, Trade Show Previews, and Automation Acceleration
July 2026 has proven to be another dynamic month for the global packaging machinery industry, following the momentum of Interpack 2026 and ProPak China 2026. The month's most talked-about development is Arburg's acquisition of Stork IMM. The purchase agreement was signed on July 29, with the transaction expected to close within approximately two months. Stork IMM specializes in injection molding machines for large and thin-wall packaging applications. This strategic move will strengthen Arburg's product portfolio in the large high-speed injection molding machine segment above 5,000 kN.

Formost Fuji will debut its all-new Alpha X (TEN) flow wrapping machine at the show, alongside robotic bagging, ultrasonic sealing, and case packing technologies. Quest will demonstrate the Flexible One robotic system live at ProMach Booth S-3660, while CAMA confirms its return to PACK EXPO to showcase secondary packaging automation and robotics.
In strategic partnerships, BW Packaging and Crown Packaging have announced a collaboration to deliver integrated packaging automation solutions to manufacturers and retailers across North America. On the capacity expansion front, Shanghai Huacheng Packaging Machinery Co., Ltd. has relocated to a new facility in Songjiang District, spanning 44 mu (approx. 29,000 sqm) with 6,000 sqm of factory space.
