WILPAC Egg Packaging Lines: Gentle Tray Loading, Carton Closing and Date Coding for Fresh Eggs
Eggs are the most fragile product in the grocery aisle: a single cracked shell contaminates the whole pack, and retailers reject deliveries with breakage above roughly two percent. At the same time, fresh eggs must be packed, coded and moved into cold chain quickly, because every hour at room temperature shortens shelf life. Egg packaging therefore has to be fast, extremely gentle and completely traceable at the same time.
WILPAC egg tray loaders use vacuum suction cups or soft grippers to pick eggs from the grading conveyor and place them into 6, 10, 12 or 18-egg pulp, PET or moulded fibre trays without impact. The pick head follows the graded size, so large, medium and small eggs are loaded into their matching tray pockets, and damaged or dirty eggs are ejected before loading. Speeds are typically 10,000 to 30,000 eggs per hour depending on the head configuration.
Closing and coding come next. WILPAC integrates lid closing for pulp trays, hot-melt glue sealing or tuck-in closing for printed cartons, plus labelling for retailer barcode and farm identification. Inkjet or laser coders print production date, best-before date, batch and farm code directly on the carton or on the tray wrap, and vision systems verify the presence of all eggs and reject any pack with a missing or broken egg.
A complete WILPAC egg line can be coupled to washers, crack detectors, weigh-graders and candling units, then continues through tray forming, tray loading, carton closing, coding, case packing, palletising and cold-room transfer, all controlled by recipes for different pack sizes. WILPAC delivers factory acceptance testing, operator training and spare parts support.
