WILPAC Rice, Grain and Pulses Packaging: Accurate Weighing and Dust Control for Bulk Food Exporters
Rice, grain, pulses and seeds look simple to package, yet they are among the most demanding products on a packing line. They are dusty, abrasive, free-flowing but sometimes inconsistent in density, and they are sold in an unusually wide range of pack sizes, from 250 g retail pouches to 25 kg bulk sacks. For mills, processors and export traders, the difference between profit and loss often comes down to two numbers: how much product is given away per bag, and how many tonnes the line can run per shift. WILPAC Packaging Machinery builds its grain and rice packaging systems around both.
The core of the line is weighing accuracy. WILPAC multi-head weighers and linear weighers for grain use vibration-resistant load cells and adaptive feeding control, so that a change in bulk density during a shift does not slowly drift the target weight. For rice and small seeds, a multi-head configuration typically holds giveaway within one to two grams on a 1 kg pack, which over a full year of production translates into a substantial recovery of product that would otherwise be given away for free. Dribble-feed control and anti-static surfaces keep light materials such as oats and husked seeds moving cleanly instead of clinging inside the weigh hoppers.
The second challenge is dust. Grain dust affects seal quality, contaminates the sealing jaws, degrades the working environment and, in the wrong concentration, is a safety hazard. WILPAC packaging machines for pulses and cereals are configured with dust extraction ports at the filling and transfer points, sealed discharge chutes and anti-static film handling, so that the sealing area stays clean and the seal itself remains strong and airtight. For retail pillow bags and block-bottom bags, the vertical form-fill-seal unit runs laminated films with reliable heat control, keeping the pack square and shelf-ready even at high speed.
The third factor is flexibility across pack formats. WILPAC systems handle the full range: small pillow bags, gusseted and block-bottom bags, quad-seal bags, stand-up pouches with zipper, and heavy-duty bulk bags up to 25 kg, which can be closed by stitching, heat sealing or pinch closure. Tool-less change parts and stored recipes mean a mill can run 1 kg pouches in the morning and 5 kg family packs in the afternoon without a long mechanical rebuild. With installations in more than 50 countries, WILPAC supports grain processors with layout design, installation, operator training and fast spare parts supply, helping them pack more tonnes per shift with lower giveaway and fewer rejected bags.
